The Challenge
The client’s Pulp & Paper mill located in Portugal has to deal with water scarcity problems that cause high mineral concentrations in their primary water source, mainly in the spring and summer seasons. This has caused problems at the existing demineralization plant, compromising the production of the required demineralized water supply for the steam production facilities, which is critical for the plant operations.
The Solution
NSI Mobile Water Solutions quickly deployed a mobile reverse osmosis unit MORO 4x25T, with a total capacity of 100m3/h of permeate at a salt reduction rate above 95%, granting supply of high-quality pre-treated water and thus the continuous operation of the existing demineralization plant at full capacity for the optimal steam production required by the mill.
Benefits
The client kept operating at full capacity, without risks of lack of steam associated with insufficient demineralized water supply during a higher demanding season. Furthermore, the customer has realized the impact of the high-quality feed water on the fixed demineralization system (by significantly reducing the frequency of costly ion exchange resin regeneration procedures) and decided to extend the initial mobilization of the reverse osmosis system through a longer rental period.
